Sourcing Manager / Engineer Toys/Stationery - m/f

For a young and dynamic fmcg retail supplier we are looking for a Sourcing Manager/Engineer to reinforce the Sourcing & Product Development team. The position is now vacant for 7 months to start with.

The role and responsibilities

Your role is very important within developing and improving (new) products. The main goal is helping out creating these products, but also by looking for the right factories to produce them.

How? Well, you know everything about how a product is being made so, you make sure the new products are translated in the supplier’s capabilities to validate concepts within cost and timeframe. And of course, you will source for new and useful suppliers all over the world.

 

Some tasks you can think of you will be doing

  • Exploring, initiating, developing, and validating opportunities in new product development;

  • Work together with R&D on New Product Development (NPD):Thinking out of the box for new product, new ways to reduce costs and increase quality;

    • To ensure suppliers are involved in the development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability;

    • To ensure the requirements of engineering drawings are clear and the expectations are communicated well to suppliers.

  • Review (new) suppliers and processes to meet new product development and new technologies;

  • Responsible for manufacturability of the specification within the determined cost and timeframe;

  • Continuous involvement in the supplier selection process to develop a supply base that provides different skills and production methods.

 

What qualities will you bring to the team

  • At least 4 years of related sourcing and/or product development experience;

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in a related study (preferably in: Product Development,  Mechanical Engineering or Purchasing and Supply Chain Management);

  • Fluent in English language and another language is a plus;

  • Understand manufacturing process of a wide range of products;

  • Internationally experienced (Audited factories or sourced and developed products in Asia or other regions);

  • Visited trade fairs like Canton Fair, Nuremberg Toy Fair etc.;

  • Understand product specifications, product development and production processes (plastic industry, cardboard & paper industry, but also emerging new possibilities);

  • Understand and communicate technical information;

  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomously and with tight deadlines;

  • Love to work in an international environment with international colleagues.
